“offer comfort during the new moon and be fed through the full moon”
Kate and Margaret developed the idea of a Moon Ceremony over several weeks. Initially the idea was just, ‘Let’s have a moon ceremony! I am sure everyone will want to do it!” We had no idea what it would look like or how we would hold a ceremony. We began to meditate on the idea and over time developed what we see as a community of intention that travels around the globe. During our meditations, Margaret intuitively wrote about the full moon and its ability to feed us with strength and light. The full moon pulls the tides and shifts energy to create. Kate’s meditations were geared toward the new moon, where she discovered that the strength of the new moon lies in its ability to spread peace and good intentions. Our discussions evolved to the point where we realized we can “be fed in the light of a full moon and we can offer care and good intentions in the rays of the new moon.”
Our moon ceremony is based on this and we offer the following as a way to participate in our moon ceremony:
If you need strength:
On the night of the full moon, find a way to quiet yourself or center yourself. Go outside if you can to be in the full strength of the moon’s rays. Look up at the moon and ask for strength. Ask to be fed from the strength of others who are participating in the moon ceremony.
If you need to care for others:
On the night of the new moon, find a way to quiet yourself or center yourself. Go outside if you can, to be in the strength of the moon’s rays. Often we can’t see the new moon, however, this doesn’t matter. The moon is there, even if you can’t tell where it is. Look up at the sky and offer blessings of strength and good intention to all those who need it and those participating in the moon ceremony.
It is our hope that as the ceremony grows in participation, there will be a wave of energy that circles the earth. This wave will ebb and flow as the moon makes its cycle and people ask for strength and give comfort. Together we will create a flow of positive energy around the world and a sense of community and shared purpose will develop as we care for each other.
